The Getaway Kit is a wonderful tool to help parents encourage their children to keep their hearts pure in very area of their lives at such a critical juncture in their adolescent years. This is so much more than just helping you have "the talk" with your kids (although that was very tastefully, yet openly and honestly handled). I just got back from my weekend away with my 6th-grade daughter and her age is truly the target audience, but it would be appropriate for kids give or take a year or two. We did feel a little rushed trying to fit all the CD sessions into the timeline suggested by the authors(Fri night through Sat night), so I would consider making it a full weekend, if your schedule and budget allow. I think my daughter really enjoyed that it was a particularly special and unique weekend for only the two of us and that she had my undivided attention almost more than anything. I appreciated the ease with which I could have "the talk" with her without it feeling awkward for either of us, since this was really the only thing I hadn't already talked with her about.

The authors do approach the subject of dating from a VERY conservative Christian perspective, but I thought they did a good job of allowing parents to choose with their children just what their own family standards will be on the subject. The authors relate a story of how one of their sons chose not to even kiss until he was at the altar on his wedding day and they share that story in a positive light, as if encouraging others to make the same decision, but I don't think they were saying everyone HAS to make the same decision.
